Welcome to ACES Coding Club

The fall session just wrapped up but spring is right around the corner, follow the ACES Coding Club Blog for information about registration dates and more!

Abbotts Creek Coding Club is open to all ACES students in 2nd-5th Grade.

Students will use code.org Code Studio which is a fun, creative platform for learning basic coding and computer science! Using a blended learning model, children are learning with a mix of online activities (on the computer) and “unplugged” classroom activities that do not use a computer.

This format helps nurture creativity, problem solving, collaboration, and logic through interactive, self-paced tutorials, featuring short video lectures and game-like puzzles. Students will study topics such as:

  • How the internet works
  • Basic computer programming
  • Logic, problem solving and creativity
  • Creating simple apps, animations and “code art”

Want to see what it’s all about with a Frozen or Star Wars game?  Go to code.org and try it out.

To apply for ACES Coding Club, please fill out the ACES Coding Club Application, complete the essay and submit them to ACES Coding Club. If admitted to the coding club, parents and students will also be required to complete three additional forms: ACES Coding Club Student Contract , ACES Parent Agreement, and the WCPSS Technology Consent Form
